Caardvarks Sketch Challenge

I am very happy to participate in a card challenge again...it feels like it's been forever even though it's really only been a couple of weeks. The fatabulous Heidi Van Laar created a sketch for the Caardvark challenge. I got my Create my Keepsake March card kit and it was full of yummy Makin Memories "Flower Patch" collection. Here is what I created:

In my last post, I shared some pictures of the scary looking turkey vulture who visited my street last week. How weird is this? A few days after seeing and phtographing the first turkey vulture I have ever seen, I read in the news that just a few miles from here, a turkey vulture crashed through the windshield of car traveling on the highway. The woman was injured and the turkey vulture died in the backseat of the car. Bizarre. I hope it wasn't the same one I saw.
That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by!

Three Cards and a Turkey Vulture!?!?

I haven't made any cards in the past few days but I have a few more Earth Day cards that I made last week to share.
I've started making more transparent cards lately because I love the amazing creations I've seen during my daily bloghopping. I'm going to have to get some of these Short Cuts everyone seems to love so much soon!
The transparent cards were made using packaging from one of my birthday presents. (It was St. Patty's day--the funnest bday every year!) I felt awful using plastic on an Earth Day card but I think since it's recycled it's ok, right?
I used my new Cuttlebug embossing folder on this one. (I forgot what it's called already.)

Lots of JilliBean Soup recycled paper on these:

And finally, the Turkey Vulture! Since moving to New Jersey (yes, I know it is so "rural" here...but I'm a Brooklyn girl!), I've seen critters in real life and am in awe that they are so close to me. It's like being at the zoo in real life! hee hee. Anyway, today I was walking down my street with my kitties (yes, the little cats just walk next to me, no leash, it's bizarre they are like dogs, but anyway..) this ginormous creature flies right near us and lands on a roof. I had to get a picture of it. A woman on my street (who I'm sure now thinks I'm nuts for standing in the street staring at a bird right near the home she shares with her son that she was accompanied by) thought is was a hawk; I thought it was a turkey at first, then thought a vulture; and another 2 ladies walking their dog, said that it was a turkey vulture. Aha!! So I ran to get my camera so I could google "turkey vulture" and compare my photos to be sure that this scary looking bird (who was obviously waiting for us to leave so that he could eat the dead squirrel in the middle of the street ewww, sorry) and in fact, I am happy to say, Wikipedia confirmed that it is indeed a turkey vulture. :)

I just finished a trial today and the result was a hung jury. I am exhausted; I think it was more grueling waiting for a verdict (that never came)than trying the case. I may as well put some of my work history in my blog since it is the only place I really keep track of what I do.
I'll have some new scappy stuff soon!

Use It!

I am feeling better but I am still stuffy on and off; it's almost Spring so I'm sure it's just allergies. I finally managed to get my card done for the Use it! blog. I know I'm late (I think that's my middle name) but I am posting it before tomorrow's challenge comes out. The challenge was to use your favorite pp; ribbon; a button and something you've never used before. Here's mine:

The pp is from a stack I bought when I first started scrapping a couple of years ago. I can't remember what it is but I've always loved it.
I used the green ribbon and the button in the middle of the flower. I guess there are 2 things on there that I never used; the sentiment on the transparency is from a small kit I got months ago of which I used nothing until now. The flower was made using a Bazzill Stitching template that I've never used before either.
I can't wait to see what the the next challenge is!

Earth Day Cards

I've made some more cards for an the order I received for Earth Day/ natural-looking, environmentally friendly cards. I used Jillibean Soup papers for most of the cards because they are made of recycled paper and are just adorable! On some of the other cards I used Basic Grey Mellow and made the cards from paper bags. I still have some more to make but lucky for me, my friend Jaime had a whole bunch of the Jillibean paper and she sent it to me. I have no idea where to buy it yet.

That's all for today. I'm not feeling well so even though I want to create I just can't. My ear hurts and I'm kind of stuffy. I did stop by Rae Barthel's awesome new challenge blog Use It!, challenging us to our stash. I took out most of my supplies but I just can't put anything together now so I'm going to retire to the couch and watch tv.

CPS 105 and more

I've been having a great time creating with the 2 most recent card kits that I received; one from Treasured Scrapbooking and the other is from Create My Keepsake. They both have great, bright colors and I love them because I LOVE bright colors!
Card Positioning Systems has a fantastic new sketch every week and the DT's samples, along with the tons of participant's creations always makes for wonderful inspiration. I used my CMK kit to make this belated birthday card. I thought all the patterns and of course that adorable monster worked well with the sentiment:

Materials: pp - Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday - Sunday;Cosmo Cricket Lil' Man - Cheerful Charlie; Cosmo Cricket Lil' Man - Handsome Henry; Monster - October Afternoon Night Light Die Cut Shapes; Alphas - Thickers-Rootbeer Float; Ink-Colorbox

I used the CMK kit to make this bookmark for a swap that I am in on Scrapbook.com:

This card was made using my Treasured Scrapbooking kit. I even tried to take a prettier picture of it (ribbon jars and the scattered buttons). What do you think?
Materials: pp - MME - Just Dreamy 2 - Brilliant "All Star" Twinkle Twinkle; Making Memories - Noteworthy, KI Memories Hibiscus 1; Alphas - Thickers-Rootbeer Float; colorbok star, Creative Cafe Buttons

A Card and other fun stuff

During my blog hopping today, I came upon a link to a site that creates a font from your handwriting. How awesome is that? I have to scan mine in but I saw some samples and I just love it! Check out Mel Stampz where I found the link for a great example. She made her own paper with it.
Then I visited Lea Lawson whose work is always fantastic and inspiring. She had a link to find what your "color" is. It may be the same site that I got my "rainbow" from (bottom of my blog), but I'm not sure and I thought it was fun so I did it. It really is an accurate description of me! Here are my results:

you are hotpink
#FF69B4

Your dominant hues are red and magenta. You love doing your own thing and going on your own adventures, but there are close friends you know you just can't leave behind. You can influence others on days when you're patient, but most times you just want to go out, have fun, and do your own thing.

Your saturation level is medium - You're not the most decisive go-getter, but you can get a job done when it's required of you. You probably don't think the world can change for you and don't want to spend too much effort trying to force it.

Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.

Finally, here is a card I made this weekend. Actually, it is the first transparent card I have ever made! I don't know why I never make them because I always love them when I see them. I think I was intimidated. Who knows. I know it isn't completely transparent but close enough and I like how it came out. It was made using Treasured Scrapbooking's February card kit.
